Katy, Taylor and Mayde Creek kept up their perfect starts to district on Tuesday with wins while Cinco Ranch earned its first district win of the season to round out the night of play.

Sharrock, Lerma lead Taylor past Seven Lakes

Taylor dominated on Tuesday in an 11-1 win over Seven Lakes, moving to 2-0 in district in the process and 6-2 on the season.

The Mustangs were led by Alyssa Sharrock and Kaelyn Lerma, who combined for four hits and five RBIs on the night while Ari Hughes had a dominant showing on the mound, pitching fie innings and striking out eight while allowing five hits and one run in the win.

Taylor came out strong from the beginning and didn’t slow down. Izzy Allen started the scoring in the top of the first with an RBI double and Kaelyn Wentzler doubled the lead shortly after with an RBI double of her own, Sharrock then smacked a 3-run homer before a run on an error gave Taylor a 6-0 lead after the first inning. Taylor added two more in the second inning scoring on a passed ball and a sacrifice fly before capping their scoring off in the third inning, as Lerma hit a solo home run and Hughes hit an RBI single to make it 11-0. Seven Lakes got a run in the third inning when Sarah Petree hit an RBI double, but that was all the Spartans could get across on the day, with the game coming to an end in five innings via run rule.

Seven Lakes was led by Abigail Nichols, who had two hits in the game and Petree, who had an RBI. Ryma Chakraborty was on the mound for the Spartans and allowed nine earned runs over five innings while striking out one and walking six. Seven Lakes fell to 0-1 in district play with the loss.

Katy run rules Morton Ranch

Katy run ruled Morton Ranch on Tuesday, coming out on fire at the plate and on the mound in a 16-0 win that only went for three innings, as Katy improved to 8-0 on the year and 2-0 in district play.

Cameryn Harrison had another dominant display on the mound. The senior struck out eight batters over three innings, not allowing a hit or a run while walking one batter in the win. On the offensive side she added two RBIs, tied for the team lead in the game with Paige Schulze and Paige Stall.

Hailey Gore got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning with a single to drive in a run before coming around to score on a wild pitch. Katy got another run off an error before Montgomery Henderson stole home for a fourth run and Ella-Kate Smith hit a triple to score another, Brooke Fechner finished the scoring in the inning with an RBI single. Hailey Gore added one more run in the second inning when a runner came across to score on her triple before Katy finished things off with a huge third inning. Schulze started the inning with an RBI single and Katy got two more off an error, Harrison drove in a run off a single before Emily Budd hit a sacrifice fly and Stall ended the game on a two-run single.

Katy ended the night with 11 hits and no errors in the win. Morton Ranch dropped to 0-2 in district with the loss.

Late surge leads Cinco Ranch past Tompkins for first district win

Cinco Ranch used a four run sixth inning to beat Tompkins 7-5 and earn the Cougars their first district win of the season.

The Cougars had strong days from Aubrey Ramirez and Ossie Cooper, who both had two RBIs, while Faith Piper added two hits to help lead the team. Savannah Henningson pitched a complete game for the Cougars, allowing five runs on four hits while striking out five and walking three.

Tompkins took the first lead of the game in the top of the first inning, scoring on a sacrifice fly by Leah Gershman and doubling that lead with a run on a passed ball. Ramirez tied things up in the bottom of the first though on a two-run homer to get Cinco Ranch on the board.

Things stayed that way until the top of the fifth inning, when Tompkins retook the lead on a wild pitch and then stretched that lead to two runs when Lex Cebrero hit an RBI single. Cinco Ranch trimmed the lead to one in the bottom of the inning off a Ossie Cooper inside the park home run before exploding to take the lead in the sixth inning. The bottom of the sixth inning started off with two straight outs for Cinco but Piper got things going with a single to start the rally. Madison Rosario then stepped up and tied the game on a double and Cinco took the lead on the next at bat off an error.  Lindsey DeLeon closed out the inning with a two-run triple as the Cougars went up 7-4. Tompkins got one run back in the top of the seventh when Leah Gershman drove in a run on a double but weren’t able to manage any more as Cinco clinched the win.

Gershman was the top performer for Tompkins offensively with two RBIs while Cebrero added one, Samantha Crumrin started the game on the mound for the Falcons and allowed four earned runs on 10 hits while striking out four and walking five. With the loss, Tompkins fell to 0-2 in district play.

Mayde Creek stays perfect in district with big win over Paetow

Mayde Creek got its second win of district play this year with a 10-3 win, improving to a 3-5 record this season to go with a 2-0 record in district.

Kaitlyn Flores was a huge part of that win, leading the team with four RBIs on three hits, while Shy’Lynn Brown pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking four.

The Rams jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first, getting two runners on with walks before Flores came to the plate and hit a 2-run single. Mayde Creek added three more in the second inning, Brown came to the plate and belted a 2-run double and Flores drove another in on a single, making it 5-0. The Panthers battled back in the bottom of the fourth and got their first run across when Lea Avila hit an RBI single, which Liliana Rodriguez followed up with an RBI single of her own. Alicia Briones then got a third run across for the Panthers with a bases loaded walk.

Things stayed that way until the sixth inning, when the Rams were able to put away the game. Mayde Creek got one across in the inning on a bases loaded walk and Flores then came to the plate and got three runs across on another single, making it 9-3 in favor of Mayde Creek. The Rams then capped things off in the top of the seventh, getting a final run on a single from Eva Tyler.

Paetow was led by Briones and Rodriguez, who both had one RBI in the game, Jiselle Lopez started on the mound and went 5.2 innings and allowed seven earned runs on nine hits, striking out six and walking seven in the process. Paetow dropped its first game of the season and now sits at 7-1 with a 1-1 record in district.
