Tompkins is ranked No. 3 in this year’s Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association pre-season poll.
The Falcons return 10 starters from last year’s team that made it to the regional semifinals and went 9-3 in district, finishing second.
Tompkins will start the season on Feb. 24 against Flour Mound in a tournament. The Falcons will play their first district game on March 15 against Taylor.
Rockwall Heath was ranked No. 1 in Class 6A, followed by Southlake Carroll and Tompkins, San Antonio Reagan and Rockwall rounded out the top five. Atascocita and Tomball were also ranked in the top 10, coming in at No. 8 and 9 respectively.
Friendswood was ranked No. 1 in Class 5A, while Pleasant Grove and Corpus Christi London were ranked No. 1 in Class 4A and Class 3A respectively. Bosqueville came in at No. 1 in Class 2A.
No Katy teams ranked in preseason softball poll
No Katy ISD teams were ranked in the Texas Girls Coaches Association preseason softball poll. The only Houston area team ranked in the top 10 was Ridge Point, in Class 5A, Barbers Hill was ranked NO. 1 and Lake Creek was ranked No. 4. Huffman Hargrave was ranked no. 9 in Class 4A.
